HCARC POTA – Old Tunnel State Park 17 Oct 9AM-1PM
Andrew KJ5HPC and John N7MM will set up starting 8 AM and should be ready by 9AM or earlier. Bill Collins WA5DSS is providing Band Pass Filters for 20 and 40 meters to minimize any interference between radios.
You are invited to operate the two stations we will have setup both IC-7300s one on 20M USB using the 20 meter club vertical and the other on 40 M LSB using a NVIS dipole. We will provide HAM2K Polo logging on our cell phones for the W3XO event. We will also PAPER log for backup. We want you to have at it. We will provide a shade for each radio. and battery and solar powered equipment. We are not planning on doing any thing but SSB (or cw) before 10 AM -
BRING YOUR OWN Chairs, liquid, food, shade, an friendly smiles
For those that are unlicensed or Technician License, the two above radios will be available with mentors and you will use W3XO call sign. If there is large demand, we will figure it out. This is perfect training for those who have never activated a park.
We will operate the two setups ONLY as W3XO until 10 AM so no mic swapping until then, and after that you are responsible for any logging you want to do to activate the park with your call. Technician or no license can still operate under W3XO with Andrew or John as the control operator.
We also request that before 10 AM other club members can set up but do not operate their GO/POTA stations. After 10 AM those above restrictions are removed. Have at it.
We also prefer no motor generators, no wires in trees, or spikes in the ground.
For those of you that want to operate your own equipment you are welcome to set up before 10 AM but until we release the club stations please do not transmit, but do come over and operate W3XO ! This may occur before 10 AM given the circumstances.
We will help frequency coordinate after we have turned the hoard free.
We will probably shut down the Club stations around 1 PM BUT depending we will make that decision there.
Our not so hidden goal is to activate the park (10 contacts) will as many pota newbees as we can and we will aim to have everyone who wants on the air to have contacts.
For the last several days the ionosphere has been poor to good to unpredictable.
